Neo-queen Serenity
~ A dreamed Sailor Moon cosplay tutorial ~
I'm a huge Sailor Moon fan since I was 9 years old and as many other moonies out there, I dreamed about this dress for ages!
In
fact, I was pretty scared of starting this project...there are not many
really great cosplays of this dress, that has quite a simple styling,
but in fact there are few details that are really hard to be done and
many have failed.
This was a very important personal and professional
challenge for me and an extremely skill-demanding work process that
tooked nearly three weeks to finish it.
This is the story of a dream come true...My vision of Neo-queen Serenity dress.

The finished Neo-queen Serenity corset gown and it's custom made wings by On Gossamer Wings |
|
First comes the inspiration thanks to the everlasting art by Naoko Takeuchi!
|
|
I started with gathering all the materials. And if I have to be honest, it tooked me years to choose and gather them all. |
|
One of the most important parts to start with, was the corset pattern, that was going to be the foundation of this corset gown, so it needed to be perfect. |
|
Than I started building the lining part of the gown... |
|
Followed by layers and dozens of meters of tulle fabric.
I was so happy with the result and of succeeding with the basic twisted shape of the dress, so I couldn't help myself trying the gown on my own. Oh what a grateful day it was! |
|
And now it was time for the funny and tricky part of the whole deal. The signature decorations such as this neckline pattern. |
|
Fitting the pattern for (in my humble opinion, the most difficult part of this project - the epaulettes. |
|
And just to be honest...only these two tooked me three days in a roll.
But in the end I got two satin-covered, perfectly shaped Neo-queen Serenity epaulettes! So, it was worth it!

Once done with the bases, it was time for beading it all. The magical moment when after days and days of hard work, everything is coming together just fine. |
|
Oh, I was as happy, as one could be!!! |
|
My perfect hand-made Neo-queen Serenity corset gown was completed on the 27th of January 2018.
Enjoy! |

You made us believe in the true, everlasting love.
どうもありがとうございます!
Sadly, I can't seem to get the videos to play. I would have liked to see more on the epaulets. I love your attention to detail. The beadwork is simply amazing. Having done just armbands for a costume I know that it can take forever. I also love the choice of fabrics. Will you be doing a shoot in this dress anytime soon?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind feedback!
DeleteYes, it seems to be some sort of a problem with the videos in blogpost, meanwhile I invite you to take a look at them here:
